Description
This project is an ongoing piece and will consist of multiple levels with varying levels of platforming difficulties. Currently only the starting cave is present with more being worked on.
The main mechanic for this project is the elemental staff which the player is wielding. The player can swap freely between 3 elements; Fire, Ice and Lightning with each element interacting differently with the world.
The Fire element is used to activate the RED crystals which power the doors to exit areas. The main objective for the puzzles is to locate the crystal/s and open the door. Harder difficulty challenges will require more crystals to be activated before the door opens. This is represented by the crystals above the door, there will be the same number of crystals above the door as crystals required to open the door. The Fire element can also MELT ice placed in the world, or even platforms created by the player when freezing water.
The Ice element is used to freeze water spouts in the world to create platforms the player can use to traverse across water. This mechanic can also be used to create paths, such as splitting a water fall.
The Lightning element is used to power up runes and the connected mechanic, currently this will activate a moving platform but more mechanics are to come.
The elements and associated mechanic in the world are all colour coded to help the player understand which element can be used when. The interaction should also make logical sense, ICE to freeze water, FIRE to melt ICE etc. This can allow the player to cognitively solve the puzzles.
